When it comes to marketing a product, much more is needed than having a public eye. The product also needs to be useful, wanted, desired, and seemingly affordable.
No matter what kind or how much press you put behind a product, if people don’t need it or want it, they WILL NOT buy it. The same is true if they can find an equal product for cheaper or a product with more features for the same price. Your product needs to be something special, it needs to have some form of appeal.
That being said, SEO is not a good course to pursue if you can’t sell your product. It won’t help you. It is not a last-ditch effort to take advantage of the gleam of the internet. It is there simply to help market an already marketable product.
If you think otherwise, don’t quit your day job (or think about getting one if you don’t already have one).
